Project Overview

Project Title: Meridian Global Retail — Global Sales & Customer Performance Dashboard (Tableau)

Business Scenario: Meridian Global Retail sells Furniture, Office Supplies, and Technology across five markets — USCA, Europe, Asia Pacific, LATAM, and Africa — spanning 165 countries. Executive leadership currently reviews performance market-by-market in separate spreadsheets and has no single view of the whole business.

Business Problem: Leadership doesn't know, at a glance, which countries are quietly losing money, which product lines are dragging down global margin, or which customers are actually valuable versus just large. They need one interactive Tableau dashboard, not eleven regional spreadsheets.

Project Objective: Build a Tableau dashboard that lets any executive filter by market, year, and category, and immediately see global sales, profit, and customer performance — including the loss-making countries and product lines that a country-level spreadsheet view would hide.

Key Stakeholders: Global VP of Sales, Regional Market Directors (USCA, Europe, APAC, LATAM, Africa), Finance (global margin), Product/Category Managers.

Final Business Goal: One published Tableau dashboard that answers "where in the world are we winning and losing money, and why" without anyone opening a spreadsheet.

What You Will Finally Build

  • A cleaned, Tableau-ready dataset (currency fields converted to real numbers, dates parsed)

  • A Tableau workbook (.twbx) with calculated fields, an LOD expression, and a parameter

  • 8 worksheets covering global, country, category, discount, trend, and customer performance

  • One combined interactive dashboard with filters and a cross-filtering action

  • A written insights & recommendations report

  • A short final presentation summary

Tools: Tableau Desktop or Tableau Public (free) for building the workbook; this guide also uses Python/pandas behind the scenes to verify every number and pre-compute preview charts, but the deliverable itself is a Tableau workbook, not a Python script.
