Project Overview

Project Title: BrightMart Retail — Sales & Business Performance Visualization Dashboard (Matplotlib)

Business Scenario: BrightMart Retail is a mid-sized retail company selling Furniture, Office Supplies, and Technology products across the United States through multiple customer segments (Consumer, Corporate, Home Office). Leadership has never had a clear, consistent, visual way to track performance.

Business Problem: The VP of Sales has no consistent way to see which regions, categories, and customer segments are driving — or dragging down — revenue and profit. Decisions about inventory, discounts, and staffing are being made on gut feeling instead of data.

Project Objective: Use Python and Matplotlib to clean the company's sales data and build a set of clear, professional charts — a "static dashboard" — showing sales trends, profitability, and performance by category, region, and segment.

Key Stakeholders: VP of Sales, Regional Sales Managers, Finance team, Marketing team.

Final Business Goal: Deliver a one-page visual report (built entirely with Matplotlib) plus a short insights summary that tells leadership where the money is being made, where it's being lost, and what to do about it.

What You Will Finally Build

  • A cleaned sales dataset (CSV)

  • A Python (Jupyter Notebook) analysis pipeline using pandas + Matplotlib

  • 7 individual business-focused charts (line, grouped bar, donut, scatter, boxplot, regional bar)

  • One combined multi-panel "dashboard" figure built with plt.subplots()

  • A written business insights & recommendations report

  • A short final presentation summary

Tools: Python, pandas, Matplotlib, numpy. No SQL, Excel, or BI tool is required — this project is scoped to master Matplotlib for business storytelling.
